Grand Soleil 43 (2005)
The Grand Soleil 43 (J&J, 2004–2005) is a fast Italian performance cruiser with a low wetted surface (reducing hydrodynamic drag), a powerful rig, a lead T-bulb keel to help reduce the center of gravity, and a deep rudder for excellent upwind/downwind handling.
Cantiere del Pardo's Grand Soleil has a history of changing designers per model/era to stay current. Slovenian based J&J Design, by brothers Japec and Jernej Jakopin handled the late-1990s/early-2000s performance cruisers, and designed the Grand Soleil 43 model in the years 2004-2005. To this day the J&J 43 remains distinct for its balanced racer-cruiser traits from that period.
She has a Yanmar 55 hp diesel engine for motorsailing, teak decks and cockpit sole. 3-cabin layout, easy short-handed sailing. Light yet stiff, with strong resale and steady demand among European owners seeking speed without sacrificing comfort.
